BORUSSEUM – The club museum of BVB Dortmund
The BORUSSEUM, Borussia Dortmund’s club museum, presents and preserves the BVB’s tradition in the northeast corner of Signal Iduna Park and is also intended to be a place where social responsibility is demonstrated. It first opened in 2008 and, following a complete overhaul and redesign, has been a contemporary and visitor-oriented venue since April 2022.
Seven thematic areas and their sub-themes were defined for the new BORUSSEUM. “Proven elements from the old exhibition were integrated, and new topics were added – from the Klopp era to the 2021 DFB Cup victory and the BVB women’s team,” says Clemens Gatzmaga from the exhibition agency Machen, which, together with the BVB board, the expert panel, and the museum directors, Sarah Hartwich and Melanie Wanczura, was responsible for the content and curatorial work and developed the scenography and exhibition design. “Ups and downs, stories from on and off the pitch, thoughtful moments as well as humorous ones – you’ll find it all here.”
Körling Interiors was responsible for implementing the concept on the site and, in close cooperation with the planners and architects, manufactured and installed the interior fit-out. We like to quote Mathias Haak from SHA Construction Management: “The intricate details made the project very complex. The result is a complete success!” That’s exactly how it was; it was a pleasure for us to have been involved in the construction!
