Museum of Early Industrialisation Wuppertal

As part of the refurbishment and expansion of the German Museum of Early Industrialisation in Wuppertal, the newly redesigned permanent exhibition was reintegrated into the historic museum building. The museum is one of Germany’s first social history museums and explores the transformation of the Wuppertal region into one of Europe’s earliest industrial areas. The exhibition examines the technological, economic, social, and environmental impacts of industrialization, illustrating how these developments have shaped the region to this day. Visitors can discover historical exhibits, original machinery, and contemporary multimedia installations that bring the story of industrial development and its consequences to life.

A visual highlight of the exhibition design by Körling Interiors is the 18-metre-long Wupper Wall. This striking installation illustrates the transformation of the Wupper Valley into one of Europe’s first industrial centres, conveying the region’s remarkable development in an engaging and accessible way.
